Paul McCreesh and the Gabrieli Consort explore the vast legacy of choral music in honour of the Virgin Mary. Recorded in the Ely Cathedral and its Lady Chapel, this CD includes Renaissance works by Josquin, Palestrina, and Mouton contrasted with their modern counterparts by Howells, Bax, Górecki, Giles Swayne, and Thomas Adès.

Sublime Mozart is dedicated to Australia’s greatest arts patron, Dame Elisabeth Murdoch, AC, DBE. To honour Melba’s Founding Benefactor Dame Elisabeth Murdoch’s 100th birthday on 8th February, Melba produced a recording of two of her favourite works, by her favourite composer Mozart, on her favourite instrument, the clarinet – the Clarinet Concerto in A, K.622 and Clarinet Quintet in A, K.581 – performed by clarinet virtuoso Paul Dean, the Grainger Quartet and the Queensland Orchestra conducted by Guillaume Tourniaire.

‘What I want to do with my lute is to sing’ says lutenist Edin Karamazov. On his extraordinary debut album, he explores all the colours of this evocative and versatile instrument through music from the Renaissance to the modern day. Karamazov is joined by Renée Fleming, Kaliopi, Andreas Scholl and Sting in new interpretations of songs from the pop, folk and classical traditions.

To mark the bicentenary of Mendelssohn’s birth Anne-Sophie Mutter is honouring the composer with a very personal tribute combining symphonic music and chamber works on CD and DVD: the Violin Sonata in F major of 1838, the Piano Trio D minor op 49 that was completed in 1839 and the Violin Concerto in E minor of 1845.
