Diversions in Fine Music (Mon-Fri 9.00am - 10.00am)

Bright and beautiful music on each weekday morning with varying aspects explored each day of the week.

  • New Arrivals at 2MBS-FM, on Mondays, showcases some of the latest acquisitions in the 2MBS-FM sound library.
  • In the Shadow, on Tuesdays we will explore the music of composers who were overshadowed by the genius of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert.
  • Chamber ‘Pops’, brings the most enjoyable pieces of chamber music, both well-known and that which deserves to be better-known.
  • Composer Focus on Thursdays will introduce the music of lesser-known composers except on the fourth Thursday of the month when Name the Composer will give you the opportunity to guess the name of a well-known composer and a chance to win a CD.
  • Festive Friday brings you playful, bright and diverting music for the end of the working week.

 

Morning Concert  ( Mon-Fri 10.00am - 11.30am)

A concert-style program of orchestral music featuring concertos, symphonies, other large orchestral works

 

Keeping You Company  (Mon-Fri 4.00pm - 7.00pm)

Three hours of varied and enjoyable music to keep you company during a busy time. Featuring well-loved music and some that may be new to you, the orchestral texture is varied with songs and arias, chamber and keyboard works.

 

Keyboard Contrasts (Mon 10.00pm - Midnight)

This is a program of mainly piano works but it may include harpsichord and other earlier keyboard instruments. It also includes one substantial work for piano in chamber.

 

Recent Releases  (Tues 8.00pm - 10.00pm)

Our survey of recent releases and re-releases from overseas and local catalogues; also on the first  Saturday (Select Your Classics) at 11.30am and the third Saturday (Recent Releases) at 11.30am and on the third Sunday (A Field of Tall Poppies) at 6pm

 

New Horizons   (Tues 10.00pm - Midnight)

The music is dedicated to the classical repertoire from 1960 onwards, with particular emphasis on music of the late twentieth century and the beginning of the present one.

 

Youth Development Hour  (Wed 12noon - 1.00pm usually fortnightly)

Includes the Young Performers Award 2010, Younger Performers, Emerging Young Artists, Young Ensembles and Young Organists in live recitals or recorded performances.

 

Wednesday Matinee  (Fourth Wed 2.00pm - 4.00pm)

A varied program featuring major classical works and covering all aspects of the repertoire

 

Opera  (Wed 8.00pm starting time)

Wednesday is opera night with full-length operas mainly from the Romantic era but including some operas of earlier and later periods.

 

Evenings with the Orchestra  (Thur 8.00pm - 10.00pm)

Major orchestral works and famous orchestras or conductors are the focus of this programme. Series themes are: The Choral Symphony (first week); Creative Links (second week, except May – Schumann 200 Anniversary); Pervasive Influences (third week); The Mighty Handful (fourth week – except June – Schumann 200 Anniversary); individual themes (fifth week)

 

Chamber Soirée   (Thur 10.00pm - Midnight)

The intimate sound of chamber music gives you time to reflect.

 

Romantic Initiatives (Fri 8.00pm - 10.00pm)

Aspects of the changes in music are explored during the 19th century as music developed into the rich sounds and emotion of the Romantic period.

 

Baroque and Before  (Fri 10.00pm - Midnight)

This is a specialist program of music selected from the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque eras.

 

Landmarks  (Sat 9.30am-11.30am)

Great works of the master composers of the Classical, Romantic and 20th and 21st Century eras.

This CBAA award-winning program broadcasts the classical music choices of discerning, beloved pets.

 

Philharmonia in Concert  (Third Sat 4.00pm - 6.00pm)

Choral concerts of The Sydney Philharmonia Society will be heard during this program. On occasion the program will conclude at 6.30pm giving the opportunity for choral works exceeding two hours to be broadcast.

Recordings of great artists from the past are showcased.
