Collected together for the first time on a 2CD set are Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau’s much-requested recordings of folk song arrangements by Haydn, Beethoven and Weber.

Beethoven arranged an astounding 179 folk songs spanning a period of eleven years from 1809 to 1820.

This 2CD set features a number of Handel’s early concertos for Oboe, performed by oboist Roger Lord  with The Acadamy of St Martin in the Fields conducted by Sir Neville Marriner. Also included are Marriner’s Argo recordings of overtures and orchestral excerpts from the operas Alcina, Ariodante, Il pastor fido and Solomon, previously unavailable on CD. This compilation concludes with Handel’s Concerto Grosso in C ‘Alexander’s Feast’.
