Chopin 200
A series in February and March will showcase the music of the romantic pianist and composer, Frederic Chopin, to celebrate the 200th anniversary of his birth on 22 February 1810. Listen at the following times:

Schumann 200
A series in May and June will celebrate the music of the brilliant composer, conductor and music critic, Robert Schumann, whose birth was on 8 June 1810. Listen at the following times:

Two programs bring you the relatively unknown music of Pergolesi who was born 300 years ago on 4 January 1710: Monday 4 January at 2pm; Friday 8 January at 10pm in Baroque and Before

Ernst von Dohnányi 50
On the 50th anniversary of the death of this Hungarian composer and pedagogue we celebrate his music on 9 February at 2pm.

Jan Ladislav Dussek 250
The Bohemian, Jan Ladislav Dissek, will be the focus of a program on Saturday 27 February at 3.30pm to commemorate the life and work of this virtuoso pianist and composer who was born 250 years ago on 12 February 1760.

Samuel Barber 100
A series of programs in March of the music of one of the most renowned of American composers will feature two of his operas in celebration of the 100th anniversary of his birth on 9 March 1910. Listen at the following times:

Wednesdays 3 and 31 March at 8pm for the operas Vanessa and Antony and Cleopatra respectively
Saturdays 13 and 27 March at 11.30am for programs of mixed repertoire

Thomas Arne 300
This renowned English composer, famous for his entertainment music at the Vauxhall Gardens in London, was born 300 years ago on 10 March 1710. Join in the celebration of his music at 3.30pm on Saturday 27 March.

Johann Kuhnau 350
350 years after the birth of this Baroque era composer on 6 April 1660, we broadcast a sampling of his music on Saturday 23 April at 3.30pm.

Alessandro Scarlatti 350
Father of the well-known, Domenico, Alessandro Scarlatti was greatly renowned in his own time and played a significant part in the development of opera. He was born on 2 May 1660. To celebrate 350 years since that event, listen to his music at 2pm on Sunday 9 May in Sunday Special.

Isaac Albéniz 150
The Spanish composer was born 150 years ago on 29 May 1860. We celebrate his colourful music on Sunday 23 May at 2pm in Sunday Special.

Mily Balakirev 100
Mily Balakirev died on 29 May 1910. As one of the composers of the Russian nationalist school, which included Rimsky-Korsakov and Mussorgsky, he had a great influence on Russian music. Hear his music at 11.30am on Saturday 29 May.

Otto Nicolai 200
On Wednesday 9 June at 2pm, listen to the delightful music of Otto Nicolai on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of his birth.

Peter Pears 100
The British singer, who premiered many of the compositions of Benjamin Britten, was born on 22 June 1910. On the occasion of his 100th anniversary, his artistry will be heard on Wednesday 22 June at 12 noon.
