2008 WSOC – 2MBS-FM Young Composers Award
In association with the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra and Choir, APRA and The Fellowship of Australian Composers, 2MBS-FM is proud to support a new generation of Australian composers with the WSOC – 2MBS-FM Young Composers Award.
- Entries will not be accepted after Friday 27th June 2008
- All entrants must be born on or after the 1st of January 1978.
- The selected entry will receive a cash prize of $2,000.00
- The APRA Encouragement Award will receive $500 without a performance
- The Fellowship of Australian Composers Encouragement Award will receive $500 without a performance
- The World Premiere performance of the selected composition will take place on Sunday 24th of August at 3pm.
- The venue will be the Greenhalgh Theatre at UTS Kuring-gai
- The work will be performed by the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra conducted by Nicholas Milton and recorded by 2MBS FM.
Any composition/score submitted must be a new, original composition never before performed or published. The work is required to be between six (6) minutes and no longer than ten (10) minutes duration.
The composition must use the following instrumentation: 2 Flutes 2 Oboes 2 Bb Clarinets 2 Bassoons 4 French Horns 2 Trumpets 2 Tenor Trombones Bass Trombone Tuba Timpani Violin 1 Violin 2 Viola Cello Double Bass
3 copies of the score are to be included with the following details attached on a title page: Composers name, address, telephone number, the duration of the work, the number of pages and the compositions title.
A non-refundable entry fee of $50 must be submitted with this application.
All entries submitted will receive acknowledgement of receipt.
The selected entrant will be required to be available to attend at least one rehearsal prior to the performance.
Entries must be completed in writing (hard copy), in black ink and clearly legible.
Entries to be posted or delivered to 2MBS-FM 102.5.
