The Dedicated Listener
I thank everyone at 2MBS-FM for the great enjoyment you bring me every day (almost!) of the year with a wonderful array of music and dialogue. Reading the magazine each month I now find there are a number of members like me who go to great lengths to find you on the airwaves. As a boat builder I cover around 100,000 kms a year travelling mostly between the Gulf and Port Lincoln generally on my motorbike and spend quite a bit of time looking for high ground, tall trees and rocky outcrops plus the odd mast or pilot base in order to obtain reception, but I wouldn’t want it any other way! Currently I have a new build almost ready for launching in Botany Bay where I have been these last two years (a new vessel for the Ports Corp.). When it’s launched who knows where I will end up, but I shall still be listening to 102.5! Thank you all so much. Remember for every one you can’t please, there’s a dozen that you do.

Don’t Fear The Dread Junction
I recently stumbled across your Bass Culture and Dread Junction programs. I would like to say a big thanks to both Tom and Vince for their righteous selection of Ska, Dancehall, Dub and Reggae music. These two programs took me back to my days at university in the eighties when Ska and Reggae were making a bit of another comeback, though some people say they never went away. I have grown quite a bit older now and predominantly listen to jazz, especially Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. It was great to hear some of the old classics and also to hear what is now coming out of Jamaica and the rest of the world. I know 2MBS-FM is basically a station for Classical and Jazz but I think you could promote some of these other styles of music in your late night programming a bit more.

Vicrious Victoria Celebration
Just a quick note to say thanks for your recent celebration of the 400th anniversary of the death of Tomás Luis de Victoria. I have always found his music exquisitely soulful and inspiring. It would be great to hear more of this delightful vocal music of the renaissance on 2MBS-FM.

More Than Just The Opera
I strongly disagree with a letter printed in the August issue of Fine Music. ‘JUST THE OPERA PLEASE’. I am new to opera and your weekly opera night is a wonderful introduction for me. I am not familiar with the storyline and characters of the opera so I find the information provided by the presenter most valuable. It would also be nice if this, or possibly more, information about each week’s opera could be presented on the 2MBS website.
